Propaganda is a communication method which is biased and it’s purpose is to persuade audience for a particular point of view. In this blog I will share with you why is to important to learn about propaganda, the objective of propaganda and we will also look at some of the propaganda posters which were made during world war 1 and world war 2.
Why Is It Important To Learn About Propaganda?
Media such as news channels, newspaper, magazines, videos etc. often have biased messages hidden in them. With the rise of social media it is easier than ever to mislead public and promote a particular point of view. We need to be able to analyze the content to protect ourselves from not being victims of propaganda. This does not mean every news outlet or any form of news is misrepresentation of reality. The key is being able to recognize and being able to know weather or not it is an accurate information.
Objective Of Propaganda
The primary objective of propaganda is to influence public opinion and demoralize enemy's morale. We humans are social animals and we tend to categorize people “us vs them” and propaganda is used to create separation within people. Propaganda is also used to break down the enemy’s will to fight and lower their resistance. There are many ways to do propaganda but these days it is heavily done by the mass media and even in the past pictures and posters were designed with an aim to persuade audience.
