Facts About Hummingbirds & Parrots
Hummingbirds are fascinating little creatures who are very territorial. They aggressively protect their flowers. The reason behind it is that when there are not many blossoms available hummingbirds have to fly a long way to get nectar. Because hummingbirds use a lot of energy and they constantly need more energy therefore, hummingbirds have to visit hundreds of flowers in a day. That is another reason why they are very aggressive and protect their flowers.
Parrots are known for their charm, intelligence and talking abilities. They are also hypersensitive both emotionally and physically. Improper handling by the owner can make the bird aggressive. There are also other aggressive behaviors that can be found in different kinds of parrots. For instance, the female Eclectus parrot pecks its sons to death as soon as they hatch. The reason why Eclectus parrots like to kill their sons is because females Eclectus parrots are easier to raise. Eclectus parrots are the only species other than humans that kill their offspring because of their gender.
Lovebirds are another kind of parrots which are known for being charming, impressive and loveable pets but love birds don’t live up to their name. Lovebirds can be very aggressive to other birds and sometimes even to each other. They need to be in pairs as it is good for their health and happiness. They develop fierce loyalties for their mate and their owners but they like to be territorial. Females are usually more territorial and aggressive than the male birds. If they are equally attracted to the same item the female is more likely to act more aggressively. The female lovebird can also kill a rival bird in no time.
